Unique Groomsmen gift idea - NJ/NY Wedding Planner
Following up from our last post on bridal party favors, we cannot forget the groomsmen! We all know the typical groomsmen gifts and if you want to stand out from the flask, money clip, cuff links, how about a pen! I know you're thinking a pen?? Well this is a unique gift idea that is also different and useful. If you visit a specialty pen store you would be amazed at the amount of variety that is available, something for all taste! You spend as little $20 to $4,000! I happen to be a lover of a good pen and always think this is a good gift for any occasion. Most places will also engrave the pen for you if you decide to personalize it for your groomsmen.

Choosing Your Bridal Party Favors - NJ/NY Wedding Planner
Choosing gifts for your bridal party can be tough—everyone has different tastes, and you want to make sure you give something that pleases everyone while still expressing your appreciation. Here, we’ve thought of a few gift ideas for the ladies who helped make your special day so great.
These simple, elegant earrings from Tiffany & Co. are a great gift for your bridal party. They’re a classic staple for any woman’s jewelry collection, and your bridesmaids will be able to wear them any time and anywhere. And who doesn’t love receiving something wrapped in that little blue box?
(Tiffany Beads earrings in sterling silver; $100; www.tiffany.com)
If you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, head over to LandsEnd.com and take a look at their classic totes. These versatile and adorable bags come in four different sizes and 14 different colors. Have each of your bridesmaids’ names embroidered on the front to create a personalized bag they can use whenever and wherever. This is an especially cute idea if you’re having a more relaxed, beach-themed wedding. Throw in a cute beach towel, some sunscreen, and other beach essentials.
(Land’s End Natural Open Top Canvas Tote Bags ; $17-30; www.landsend.com)
In a world where e-mails and text messages have completely taken over, the hand-written note is incredibly appreciated. Give your bridesmaids a reason to put that pen to paper again with their own personalized stationery—you can even pick different colors and patterns for each member of your party. They’ll be searching for reasons to write thank-you notes!

If you can, try to be as individualistic as possible when choosing your gifts, particularly if you have a smaller bridal party. In that case, it’s easier to pinpoint your girlfriends’ passions and work with that. Maybe one of your bridesmaids is a wine lover. Give her a great bottle of wine, a set of unique wine glasses, and make a reservation at a vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. Have a movie buff in your group? Put together a basket that includes some classic DVDs—especially ones that you and her have loved together. Throw in some of her favorite candy, a movie trivia book, and a gift card so the two of you can make new favorite-movie memories.
Keep in mind, a present doesn’t have to be expensive to be appreciated! The best gifts are from the heart, and your bridesmaids will appreciate something unique and useful much more than a designer keychain they may never use. Make sure to include a meaningful note with each gift telling your bridesmaids how much you appreciate their help, love, and support for a gift they’ll never forget.

Wedding Dress shopping on a budget - NJ/NY Wedding Planner
So as we all know times are tough right now and planning a wedding and trying to stay within budget is very important. We recommend making a list of your "must haves" for your wedding. These should be things that you do not want to compromise the quality of. Probably one of your top items on that list is your wedding dress! You definitely do not want to settle on just any dress, but you do have to be realistic about your budget for your dress. First thing to do is pick a maximum price range, which includes alterations and stick to it! When you start shopping for your dress let the sales rep. in the store know your budget, this will prevent them from pulling a dress that is over your price range. You want to be very careful also when shopping online for gowns. There are a lot of discount bridal shops online, which are fine to use. I recommend going to a store to try the dress you are interested in on first, if it fits great find out what size you would be and then place the order online where you found it. Be very careful because some places do not actually carry the designer of the dress but instead they make a replica. This isn't a bad thing but you should be informed. I have found a great site that offers original designer gowns. Preowned Wedding Dresses, they carry all the popular designers, along with dresses they recently added veils, accessories and jewelry to their site. What they offer is a place for brides to sell their dress. A lot of these dresses are only worn once and most of the people have had them professionally cleaned afterwards. There are a good amount of dresses that are not worn at all :( although sad for the seller it's a great deal for you! They allow you to search by size, fit, color, designer, price, etc. You can find what would be a very expensive designer gown at a low price! Check it out! http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/

Wedding Day Shoes that are Environmentally Friendly! - NJ/NY Wedding Planner
In honor of Earth day, we would like to share a fun environmentally friendly idea for all brides and their bridesmaids! Your wedding day is going to be a very long day that you will probably spend 80% of your time standing and walking around. A big trend lately has been buying matching flats to wear during your reception for comfort. You can make this an opportunity to express your style and have fun with your shoes. I have found a great site on Etsy called "Elephant and Chick Pea", they are handmade using reclaimed materials (from thrift stores, secondhand shops and natural fabrics (linen, cotton, wool). She also has washable shoe inserts that you can purchase for the shoes as well as a cute garmet bag! Check out the sellers site http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6198236 . Enjoy.....
